Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, vegetable oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.

  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  5. If desired, fold in the raisins and chopped nuts.

  6. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the spiced bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Slice and serve the Christmas Morning Spiced Bread as a delicious holiday breakfast treat.
