Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For mint raita:
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix grated potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.

  2. Heat oil in a pan. Take a portion of the potato mixture and shape it into a flat round cake. Gently slide it into the hot oil.

  3. Fry the potato cakes on medium heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove from the pan and drain excess oil on paper towels.

  4. For mint raita, whisk together yogurt, chopped mint leaves, cumin powder, and salt in a bowl until well combined.

  5. Serve the spiced potato cakes hot with mint raita.
