Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the potatoes evenly.

  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Take about 1/4 cup of the potato mixture and shape it into a round patty. Flatten it slightly and place it in the hot skillet. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture, leaving some space between each hashbrown.

  5. Cook the hashbrowns for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove the cooked hashbrowns from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  7. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the skillet and cook the remaining hashbrowns.

  8. Serve the homemade hashbrowns hot and enjoy!
