Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder, boneless
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Cut the pork shoulder into chunks and place them in the slow cooker.

  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper to the slow cooker.

  3. Pour the orange juice, lime juice, and chicken broth over the pork.

  4. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds.

  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.

  6. Optional: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and crisp up the shredded pork in batches for a few minutes to add texture.

  7. Serve the carnitas in tacos, burritos, or over rice, and garnish with your favorite toppings.
