Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder roast
  • 2 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 2 tbsp Hawaiian sea salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Rub the pork shoulder roast with the liquid smoke, Hawaiian sea salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  2. Place the seasoned pork roast in a slow cooker and add water.

  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulled apart.

  4. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.

  5. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the cooking juices.

  6. Let the pork sit in the slow cooker for an additional 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  7. Serve the Kalua pig hot with rice or in sandwiches.
