How To Make Smoked Trout Fish Pies

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry
  • 200g smoked trout, flaked
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until softened.

  3. Add the smoked trout flakes and cook for another 2 minutes.

  4. Stir in the cream cheese and lemon juice until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 4 equal-sized squares.

  6. Place a spoonful of the smoked trout mixture onto each square, leaving a border.

  7. Fold over the pastry to form triangles and seal the edges with a fork.

  8. Brush the tops of the pies with beaten egg for a shiny golden crust.

  9. Place the pies on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden.

  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
