Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of lutefisk
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup of lye
  • Salt, to taste
  • Butter, for serving
  • White sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place lutefisk in a large bowl and cover with water. Let it soak for 24 hours, changing the water every 6 hours.

  2. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in lye until dissolved. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
