How To Make Harissa Fish Pie

Ingredients

  • 500g white fish fillets
  • 1 tbsp harissa paste
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. In a large pan, heat some oil and sauté the onions and garlic until fragrant.

  3. Add the harissa paste and mix well.

  4. Add the fish fillets and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until slightly browned.

  5. Remove the fish from the pan and set aside.

  6. In the same pan, melt the butter and whisk in the flour to make a roux.

  7. Gradually pour in the vegetable broth and milk, whisking constantly until smooth.

  8. Add the red bell pepper and peas to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes.

  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  10. Add the cooked fish back into the pan and mix well.

  11. In a separate pot, boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with some butter, salt, and pepper.

  12. Transfer the fish mixture to a baking dish and top with the mashed potatoes.

  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling.

  14. Serve the Harissa Fish Pie hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
