  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 pickle slices
  • ketchup and mustard for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.

  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  3. Stir in the salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook for another 2 minutes, until well combined.

  4. Toast the hamburger buns under the broiler or on a grill pan until lightly browned.

  5. Divide the ground beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.

  6. Cook the patties on a grill or in a heated skillet over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

  7. Place a slice of cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.

  8. Assemble the Whimpies by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, and pickle slices.

  9. Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of each bun and place it on top of the assembled burger.

  10. Serve the Whimpies warm and enjoy!
