Ingredients

  • 4 bolillo rolls (or any crusty bread rolls)
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (such as steak or roast beef)
  • 4 slices of cheese (such as Monterey Jack or Cheddar)
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Slice the bolillo rolls in half horizontally.

  3. Layer the beef, cheese, avocado, tomato, and jalapeno on the bottom half of each roll.

  4. Spread mayonnaise on the top half of each roll.

  5. Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Place the assembled tortas on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are crispy.

  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
