How To Make Citrus & Thyme Turkey

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (12-14 pounds)
  • 2 oranges, sliced
  • 2 lemons, sliced
  • 4 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. Rinse the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels.

  3. Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan.

  4. Stuff the cavity of the turkey with the sliced oranges, lemons, thyme sprigs, and minced garlic.

  5. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Rub the mixture all over the turkey.

  6. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for approximately 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  7. Baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes.

  8. Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
