Ingredients

  • 8 ounces wholewheat pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the wholewheat pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. Steam the broccoli florets until tender but still crisp. Set aside.

  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  4. Add the cooked pasta and steamed broccoli to the skillet. Toss to combine and coat everything with the olive oil and garlic mixture.

  5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  6. Add the sliced almonds and cook for an additional 2 minutes, until the almonds are slightly toasted.

  7. Serve the wholewheat pasta with broccoli and almonds hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
