Ingredients

  • 1 lb green beans, ends trimmed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 green chili, slit (optional)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

  2. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent.

  3. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chili. Cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

  5. Add green beans and mix until well coated with the spice mixture.

  6. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until the beans are tender.

  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with cilantro.

  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
