How To Make Croque Madame Traybake

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tbsp of butter
  • 8 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking tray with butter or cooking spray.

  2. Place 4 slices of bread on the bottom of the tray. Spread a layer of butter over each slice.

  3. Top each slice of bread with a slice of ham, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, ham, and cheese.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  5. While the traybake is baking, heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter. Crack the eggs into the pan and cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Remove the traybake from the oven and carefully place the fried eggs on top of each sandwich.

  7. Sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
