How To Make Fennel Seed and Olive Focaccia

A delicious and flavorful Italian bread that is perfect as an appetizer or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 cup sliced olives

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and fennel seeds.

  2. Slowly add in the olive oil and warm water, mixing until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Allow the dough to rise for 30 minutes.

  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  6. Punch the dough down and transfer to a greased baking sheet.

  7. Use your fingers to press the dough out into a rectangle shape.

  8. Top the dough with sliced olives, pressing down gently.

  9. Bake the focaccia for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

  10. Allow the focaccia to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
