Ingredients

  • 4 plums, pitted and chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 red chili, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine plums, apples, onion, garlic, ginger, red chili, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until the chutney has thickened and the fruits are tender.

  3. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  4. Once the chutney has thickened, remove from heat and let it cool.

  5. Transfer the chutney to sterilized jars and store in the refrigerator.

  6. The flavors will continue to develop over time, so it’s best to refrigerate for at least a day before serving.
