How To Make Little Black Forest cakes
A classic and decadent dessert consisting of moist chocolate cake layered with rich cherry filling and topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cherry pie filling
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 4 maraschino cherries, for garnish
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease four 4-inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Divide batter evenly among the prepared cake pans.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once the cakes have cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of cherry pie filling on top.

Top with another cake layer and repeat the process with the remaining cake layers and cherry filling.

Finish off by spreading whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake.

Garnish with maraschino cherries.
