How To Make Gingerbread Cookies
Delicious and festive gingerbread cookies that are perfect for the holiday season.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the molasses and egg, and mix until well combined.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and cloves. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
-
Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Optional: Decorate with icing or sprinkles for an extra festive touch.
