How To Make Arrabbiata Sauce

Spicy and flavorful tomato sauce with a hint of red pepper flakes, perfect for pasta dishes.

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1-2 minutes until garlic is fragrant.

  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of water.

  4. Serve the Arrabbiata sauce over cooked pasta of your choice. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
