Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups of fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tbsp of fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp of cornstarch
  • 1 tsp of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a food processor, combine flour, butter, powdered sugar, and salt. Pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Add egg yolk and continue pulsing until the dough comes together.

  4. Press dough into a 9-inch tart pan, making sure to evenly cover the bottom and sides.

  5. In a bowl, mix together strawberries, basil, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice.

  6. Pour the strawberry mixture onto the prepared tart crust.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.

  8. Allow the tart to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
