- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra spice)
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
In a large frying pan, cook the ground lamb over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
-
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan with the lamb. Cook until the onion is translucent.
-
Stir in the ground cumin, coriander, cinnamon, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for another minute to release the aromas.
-
Pour in the broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
-
Transfer the lamb mixture to a pie dish.
-
Roll out the puff pastry sheet and place it over the dish, pressing the edges to seal.
-
Brush the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden crust.
-
Cut a small slit in the center of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
-
Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
