How To Make Red Velvet Cupcakes

These red velvet cupcakes are tender and moist goodies that are enriched with the flavors of sour cream and buttermilk & served with cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

  • cupscake flour
  • cupunsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1tspbaking soda
  • ½tspsalt
  • 1cupunsalted butter,softened
  • 2cupssugar
  • 4largeeggs
  • 1cupsour cream
  • ½cupbuttermilk
  • 1ozred food color
  • 1tbspvanilla extract
  • Cream Cheese Frosting,Recipe in notes below.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Sift the flour, cocoa powder and baking soda into a large bowl and add the salt to it.

  3. In a stand mixer, whisk together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add in the eggs one at a time.

  4. Whisk in the sour cream, milk, red food coloring and vanilla then add in the flour until just barely mixed in.

  5. Scoop with an ice cream scoop into cupcake liners, ¾ full and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, let cool completely and ice with cream cheese frosting.
