How To Make Pecan Toffee Cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- toffee sauce ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Fold in the chopped pecans.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the toffee sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Stir in the brown sugar and cook until the sugar has dissolved, about 2 minutes.

Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the toffee sauce cool for a few minutes.

Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

Invert the cake onto a serving plate and pour the warm toffee sauce over the top.
