Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, honey, vanilla extract, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

  4. If desired, sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top of the batter.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
