  • 150g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 ripe pears, peeled and diced
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, cocoa powder, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

  4. Gradually pour in the melted chocolate while whisking continuously.

  5. Gently fold in the diced pears.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
