  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).

  2. Separate the egg whites from the yolks, placing them in separate bowls.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, oil, water, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.

  6. In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.

  7. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until fully incorporated.

  8. Pour the batter into an ungreased 9-inch round cake pan.

  9. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  10. Remove the cake from the oven and invert the pan onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  11. Once cooled, run a knife around the edges of the pan to release the cake.
