How To Make Apple Bars

Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 cups of peeled and diced apples
- 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust.

In another bowl, mix together the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.

Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the apple layer, if using.

Crumble the remaining flour mixture over the top of the apples.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
