Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • -1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  3. Place flour in another shallow dish and season with salt and pepper.

  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the chicken with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

  5. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  6. Transfer the chicken breasts to a baking dish and top each piece with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
