Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 25 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 24 quail eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup water
  • oil for frying
  • vinegar or spicy vinegar for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.

  2. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while stirring continuously until a smooth batter is formed.

  3. Place the quail eggs in a pot of boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, and peel the shells.

  4. Heat oil in a deep saucepan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).

  5. Dip each quail egg into the batter, making sure it is fully coated, then carefully drop into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried quail eggs from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

  7. Serve Kwek Kwek hot with vinegar or spicy vinegar for dipping.
