How To Make Copycat Subway Steak and Cheese Recipe

Juicy steak slices with melted cheese, served with fresh veggies, toasted bread, and secret Subway sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of beef sirloin steak, sliced
  • 4 Italian sub rolls
  • 8 slices of provolone cheese
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup of lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup of tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp of white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp of garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Season the steak slices with salt and pepper and cook in the skillet for 6-8 minutes until browned on both sides and cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. In another skillet, sauté the bell pepper and onion until softened, then set aside.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, oregano, and garlic powder to make the secret Subway sauce.

  5. To assemble, slice the sub rolls in half and place 2 slices of provolone cheese on one side, top with the steak slices and sautéed veggies and add additional cheese on top. Toast the sandwich in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. Spread the bottom half of each sandwich with the Subway sauce and top with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes.

  7. Serve hot.
