How To Make Dan’s Fish and Chips
Classic British dish with crispy battered fish and golden fries.

Ingredients
- 4 large cod fillets
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 bottle of cold beer
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into thick fries
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Slowly whisk in the beer until batter is smooth.

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Dredge each cod fillet in the batter, then carefully place in the hot oil. Fry for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

In the same pot, fry the potato fries until golden and crispy. Remove and place on a separate paper towel-lined plate.

Serve the fish and chips hot and crispy, with a side of tartar sauce or malt vinegar if desired.
