Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups cornmeal
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal and salt.
-
Gradually add in the warm water, mixing well to form a dough.
-
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
-
Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball of dough into a thin circle, about 6 inches in diameter.
-
Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
-
Cook each tortilla for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until slightly browned and cooked through.
-
Repeat with the remaining dough balls, stacking the cooked tortillas on a plate and covering them with a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm.
-
Serve the homemade corn tortillas warm with your favorite fillings or toppings.
