  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal and salt.

  2. Gradually add in the warm water, mixing well to form a dough.

  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  4. Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.

  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball of dough into a thin circle, about 6 inches in diameter.

  6. Heat a dry skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

  7. Cook each tortilla for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until slightly browned and cooked through.

  8. Repeat with the remaining dough balls, stacking the cooked tortillas on a plate and covering them with a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm.

  9. Serve the homemade corn tortillas warm with your favorite fillings or toppings.
