Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 3 hours
Total: 3 hours and 10 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 3 ¼ cups of bread flour
  • ¼ cup of sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in the bread machine pan, following the manufacturer’s instructions for the order.

  2. Select the dough setting and start the machine.

  3. Once the dough is done, remove it from the machine and place it on a lightly floured surface.

  4. Divide the dough into three equal parts and roll each part into a long rope shape.

  5. Braid the ropes together and tuck the ends underneath to form a loaf.

  6. Place the braided loaf on a greased baking sheet or in a greased loaf pan.

  7. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.

  9. Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

  10. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
