Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
-
In a shallow dish, coat the beef slices with flour, shaking off any excess.
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic. Cook until onions are softened, about 3 minutes.
-
Pour in the red wine and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes to cook off alcohol.
-
Stir in beef broth, tomato paste, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
-
Return the beef slices to the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the beef is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
-
Serve the beef in red wine sauce over mashed potatoes or with crusty bread. Garnish with fresh parsley.
