How To Make Ful Medames

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked fava beans
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
  • 4 pita breads, toasted

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. Add the cooked fava beans to the saucepan and stir to combine with the garlic. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add the lemon juice, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well to coat the fava beans with the spices. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.

  4. Remove the ful medames from heat and let it cool slightly. Mash the fava beans with a fork or potato masher until it reaches your desired consistency.

  5. Garnish the ful medames with chopped parsley and sliced hard-boiled eggs.

  6. Serve the ful medames with toasted pita bread on the side.
