  • 1 ham bone
  • 1 cup green split peas
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add the ham bone, green split peas, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, chicken broth, and bay leaves.

  2. Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2 hours, or until the split peas are tender.

  3. Remove the ham bone from the pot and shred any meat from it. Discard the bone and return the meat to the soup.

  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the soup for an additional 10 minutes.
