How To Make Classic Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions

Heat a large pot over medium heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up into crumbles with a spoon.

Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery to the pot. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine (if using), dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Serve the Bolognese sauce over cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
