How To Make Lamb Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup red wine (optional)
  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground lamb over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the lamb. Cook until the onion is softened.

  3. Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine (if using) to the skillet. Simmer for 15 minutes.

  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  6. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce mixture.

  7. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the noodles.

  8. Spoon a third of the remaining sauce over the ricotta cheese. Sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.

  9. Repeat the layers with 3 more lasagna noodles, remaining ricotta cheese, another third of the sauce, and another third of the cheeses.

  10. Top with the final 3 lasagna noodles, remaining sauce, and remaining cheeses.

  11. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  12. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving.
