How To Make Anise Flavored Meringues

Deliciously light and airy meringues with a subtle hint of anise flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp anise extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 225°F.

  2. In a large bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy.

  3. Gradually add in sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

  4. Gently fold in anise extract.

  5. Using a piping bag or spoon, drop dollops of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. Bake for 1 hour or until the meringues are dry, crisp and light.

  7. Allow to cool before serving.
