  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp anise extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat a pizzelle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the eggs, anise extract, and melted butter; stir until smooth.

  4. Drop about a tablespoon of batter onto the center of each pizzelle iron pattern.

  5. Close the iron and bake for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the pizzelles are golden brown.

  6. Remove the pizzelles from the iron and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

  7. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
