- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking dish.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar.

In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the chopped dates over the batter.

In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter and dates.

Carefully pour the boiling water over the entire pudding. Do not stir.

Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. The top will be bubbly and gooey.
