Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • ½(190°C). Grease a muffin tin or line with paper liners.

  • In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the honey, applesauce, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg.

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  • Fold in the chopped nuts or dried fruits if desired.

  • Fill each muffin cup ¾ full with the batter.

  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

  • Allow the muffins to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the tin.

  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
