How To Make Applesauce Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the applesauce and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

If desired, stir in raisins and chopped walnuts.

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
