How To Make Cake of Kings

Ingredients

  • 175g unsalted butter
  • 175g caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 175g self-raising flour
  • 25g ground almonds
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 25g flaked almonds
  • icing sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F. Grease and line a 20cm round cake tin.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.

  4. Add the flour, ground almonds, milk, and almond extract to the bowl and mix until smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. Sprinkle the flaked almonds evenly over the top of the cake.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with icing sugar for an extra touch of elegance.

  10. Serve and enjoy!
