How To Make Brennan’s Irish Soda Bread

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Slowly pour in the buttermilk and mix until a dough forms.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for a minute.

  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. Use a sharp knife to score a cross on top of the loaf.

  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  8. Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
