A classic Italian dessert made with layers of ladyfingers soaked in coffee and liquor, creamy mascarpone, and cocoa powder.

Ingredients

  • 6 ladyfingers
  • 1/2 cup strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup rum or brandy
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the coffee and rum/brandy.

  2. Dip each ladyfinger in the coffee mixture and place them in a square dish.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the mascarpone cheese, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.

  4. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers in the dish.

  5. Dip the remaining ladyfingers in the coffee mixture and place them over the mascarpone mixture.

  6. Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

  7. Sift cocoa powder over the top of the mascarpone mixture to cover completely.

  8. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.

  9. Serve chilled.
