Ingredients

  • 2 green plantains, peeled and sliced into 1-inch rounds
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 lime

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Fry plantain slices until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  3. Using a tostonera or the bottom of a heavy mug, smash each plantain round.

  4. Refry the smashed plantains until crispy, about 1-2 minutes per side.

  5. Sprinkle with salt and squeeze lime juice over the top before serving.
