How To Make Michelle Bernstein’s Guava Pastelitos

A flaky, sweet pastry filled with gooey guava paste.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry dough
  • 1 cup of guava paste
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp of water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. Roll out the puff pastry dough and cut into 6 equal squares.

  3. Place a spoonful of guava paste in the center of each square.

  4. Fold the corners of the square to create a triangular pocket, using water to seal the edges.

  5. Beat the egg and water together, and brush the mixture onto the tops of each pastry.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.
