How To Make Michelle Bernstein’s Medianoche Sandwich

A classic Cuban sandwich with roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles, served on sweet bread.

Preparation: 10 minutes

Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 sweet bread buns, sliced in half
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 lb roast pork, sliced
  • 1/4 lb ham, sliced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 8 slices dill pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat a panini press or a heavy skillet over medium heat.

  2. Spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom half of each bun.

  3. Add a slice of cheese on top, followed by a layer of roast pork and ham.

  4. Add the pickles and place the top half of the bun on top of the sandwich.

  5. Spread butter on the outside of each bun.

  6. Place the sandwich on the panini press or skillet and cook until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy, about 7-8 minutes.

  7. Slice and serve hot.
