How To Make Long John Silver’s Fish and Chips

Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup beer
  • 4 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F.

  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.

  3. Gradually add beer and whisk until a smooth batter forms.

  4. In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 375°F.

  5. Dip each cod fillet in the batter, then carefully place it in the hot oil.

  6. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown, then remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.

  7. In a separate pot, fry the cut-up potatoes until golden brown and crispy.

  8. Drain excess oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

  9. Serve the fish and chips with tartar sauce or malt vinegar.
